XTB offers two types of platforms. We already mentioned XTB’s own XStation 5 platform and the MetaTrader 4, which really does not need further introduction. Both platforms have their pros and cons.
MetaTrader 4 can be downloaded or used in web-trader mode, in the browser. It is available as a client PC/Mac app (Mac app only available through 3rd party Windows environment for mac) or an app for tablets and smartphones. The usage of MT4 is meanwhile global standard and many resources on using MetaTrader 4 can be found online and on our website, too.
XTB XStation 5 is a web based software platform for trading developed by XTB. It can be run from almost every kind of device. There are apps for smartphones and tablets, and what is interesting, the trading interface was also ported to smartwatches which we picture as really futuristic, however, due to the fact no one in the office actually owned a smartwatch, the test drive of this Matrix-like feature will have to wait.
Overall, XStation 5 is a neat platform when run from the browser. It is easy to use and navigation is intuitive. In case you are not sure how to use it, upon the first launch, you will be offered a pretty easy quick tutorial in demo mode where you will be guided to placing a trade, setting stop loss/take profit and closing the trade. The layout is pretty much standard – with asset list on the left and the large chart on the right. There are many charting tools and indicators as you would expect – the quick demo tutorial will also show how to use those.
Open trades are shown in the bottom. Even though it was created in Flash and we had to convince Safari to use the plugin, it performed well without freezes or any strain on the system – even on our 4K screen which actually caused issues for some other platforms like the one by IQoption.
When it comes to asset selection, this is where XTB offers a really nice set of underlying assets for CFDs. Obviously the have the most popular groups – like forex, commodities and indices, but they also offer shares as basis for CFDs, cryptocurrency CFDs and ETF (Exchange Traded Funds) CFDs. Especially interesting for stock traders – more than 1500 shares from around the world are available.
