XTB Broker Review

  1. XTB is a brand of the XTB Group and its one of the big brokers in online trading. Many readers may associate the brand with the actor Mads Mikkelsen who has appeared in their TV ads. Global CFDs and Forex trading community knows XTB because they offer one of the best asset lists in the business and through their own award winning platform called XStation 5. Another feature XTB offers is depositing via PayPal which we found a great way to reach wider audience. The broker is regulated by several authorities in several countries – FCA in UK, KNF in Poland, BaFin in Germany and others. With offices in 14 countries XTB has the ability to offer excellent service for traders globally. What we did not like was the withdrawals fee policy. To find out more, read the rest of our XTB review.

  2. Due to the global character of XTB operations, and the fact that the broker is regulated by several entities, the specific features and account info might vary from country to country. For instance, the UK website, under FCA supervision enables customers to trade with up to 1:200 leverage, while the Italian traders will be able to leverage up to 1:100. In our XTB review we will include information from the website we have been using – the UK one. Please make sure to check respective website for your country to verify the info on the features.

In any case, trading on demo should not be an issue since the whole procedure is easy as ever – register online and choose a platform – that’s it! XTB Demo account includes 100.000 money units one can trade with virtually without risking one’s own money. We have chosen the XStation 5 as our platform of choice, so to read more about the platform scroll down to the Trading Software section of the XTB review.

XTB offers three types of accounts in most countries. Those using the international site (one regulated by Belize ISFC) offers 2 types of account, so make note to check for differences. The three accounts we are comparing have the same minimum deposit, however, different execution, spreads, order sizes and some other options.

    XTB Basic Account

    • Fixed spread
    • Instant execution
    • Personal account manager
    • 1:200 leverage
    • Min 2 pips spread
    • Guaranteed stop loss
    • Stop out at 30%
    • Commission on shares from 0.08%
    • Maximum order size forex – 50 lots

    XTB Standard Account

    • Variable spread
    • Market execution
    • Supports automated trading
    • Personal account manager
    • 1:200 leverage
    • From 0.35 pips spread
    • 30% stop out
    • 0.08% commission on shares

    XTB Pro Account

    • Market execution
    • Market spread from 0.28 pips
    • Supports automated trading
    • Personal account manager
    • 1:200 leverage
    • 30% stop out
    • 08% commission on shares

To sum the accounts up – many may be a bit surprised all three accounts carry the same minimum deposit, but technically that is a really good thing because it enables traders to focus on the cost of execution embedded in spreads, commissions and the sheer nature of spreads. Traders who make large trades want lower spreads and want to take advantage of it when markets offer opportunity. This also means more risk if they are market based or floating since the spread is not always the same – depends on the liquidity. These traders will need to deposit more by sheer nature of their strategy. Beginners want to focus on trading and analysis and spreads are just a nuisance for them, especially if moving – so fixed spread of the Basic account makes sense there.

XTB traders can also take part in the XTB promotional loyalty programme with Cashbacks. Cashbacks are granted for cost incurred when trading, meaning they will be determined by the spread. The size of cashbacks will depend on several things, but initially it needs to be set up by the personal account manager. Naturally, it involves terms and conditions, so make sure to familiarize yourself with them.

  5. XTB offers two types of platforms. We already mentioned XTB’s own XStation 5 platform and the MetaTrader 4, which really does not need further introduction. Both platforms have their pros and cons.

MetaTrader 4 can be downloaded or used in web-trader mode, in the browser. It is available as a client PC/Mac app (Mac app only available through 3rd party Windows environment for mac) or an app for tablets and smartphones. The usage of MT4 is meanwhile global standard and many resources on using MetaTrader 4 can be found online and on our website, too.

XTB XStation 5 is a web based software platform for trading developed by XTB. It can be run from almost every kind of device. There are apps for smartphones and tablets, and what is interesting, the trading interface was also ported to smartwatches which we picture as really futuristic, however, due to the fact no one in the office actually owned a smartwatch, the test drive of this Matrix-like feature will have to wait.

Overall, XStation 5 is a neat platform when run from the browser. It is easy to use and navigation is intuitive. In case you are not sure how to use it, upon the first launch, you will be offered a pretty easy quick tutorial in demo mode where you will be guided to placing a trade, setting stop loss/take profit and closing the trade. The layout is pretty much standard – with asset list on the left and the large chart on the right. There are many charting tools and indicators as you would expect – the quick demo tutorial will also show how to use those.

Open trades are shown in the bottom. Even though it was created in Flash and we had to convince Safari to use the plugin, it performed well without freezes or any strain on the system – even on our 4K screen which actually caused issues for some other platforms like the one by IQoption.

When it comes to asset selection, this is where XTB offers a really nice set of underlying assets for CFDs. Obviously the have the most popular groups – like forex, commodities and indices, but they also offer shares as basis for CFDs, cryptocurrency CFDs and ETF (Exchange Traded Funds) CFDs. Especially interesting for stock traders – more than 1500 shares from around the world are available.

  6. If you want to trade with an award-winning licensed broker, we recommended using IQ Option

Between 74-89 % of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs
  7. If you want to contact the XTB support, in case you are a client, you probably have already spoken to your personal account manager, which is available to all customers. In case you are still thinking if you should open an account, don’t be afraid and start with the demo, since even with the demo, you will get a personal account manager assigned and ready to help.

The XTB contact page lists all 14 locations where the broker has offices, with addresses, telephone numbers and emails. Naturally, in case you need a quick info, there is always our beloved live chat where agents are standing ready to answer clients’ inquiries. In order to test the live chat, we asked a simple question about the platforms just to see how it takes to get an answer. It took about 1 minute for the response which is excellent. We even got offered an alternative and there were no sales pitches as one would sometimes encounter with some brokers.

  8. Try trading with an award-winning broker like IQ Option

  9. As we mentioned in intro, XTB has a cool feature that in accepts PayPal deposits. The overall list of supported payment methods will, again, depend on your country since not all countries are supported by every e-wallet. PayPal is interesting because most people have it, while other e-wallets are less popular. As noted, our review is based on the UK version of the website.

    Deposit methods are:

    • Bank wire
    • MasterCard
    • Visa
    • Maestro
    • PayPal
    • Skrill

PayPal and Skrill carry a 2% deposit fee.

There is no minimum withdrawal, however, fees will be incurred in case the minimum threshold is not fulfilled. The min.  threshold is $100, 80€, £60 and 12000 HUF, while the fees are for each of the base currencies: $20, 16€, £12 and 3000 HUF. While in total, the fees are lower than we have seen before with binary brokers, we still see this policy as trader unfriendly considering that:

    • many brokers cover all the fees, and
    • the fees are 20% or more of the threshold amount which is a lot.
  10. Conclusion:

We make it our mission to not recommend anything but the best – which, according to industry experts, is IQ Option, the top regulated broker for your country with a minimum deposit of ONLY $10!
