ThinkMarkets Review

ThinkMarkets

ThinkMarkets is a brand originally launched as ThinkForex on NewZealand in 2010. Following a rebranding to ThinkMarkets, the company has truly established itself as a global player with UK and Australia licences and has recently received a South African license, being regulated by the Financial Services Conduct Authority (FSCA).

Maybe one of the most interesting aspects of this broker is the fact that they do not rely solely on outside developers for they platform, but they also created their own trading software which their clients can use. We liked the Trade Interceptor platform and the opportunities offered there, even though we think there is still place for improvement. Generally its very easy to navigate platform and it makes a lot of things easier and faster for traders. To find out more, read the rest of our ThinkMarkets review.

Think Markets Demo

ThinkMarkets has a really great onboarding flow – meaning that traders will be ready for trading in a very short amount of time. Opening of a new account is a really fast process in case all the conditions are fulfilled. The level of service will depend, as with many other forex and CFDs brokers on the type of the account chosen, but generally speaking, starting with ThinkMarkets basic account – the Standard account already provides a lot of features and will be no impediment for trading even for advanced CFDs traders.

Besides the accounts listed below, ThinkMarkets also offers a free demo account, where investors can practice trading entirely risk-free.

Islamic Account

For traders of the Islamic faith, ThinkMarkets also offers a swap-free Islamic account -which can be accessed by request. The broker does not mention minimum deposit or trading conditions regarding this account, so investors would be encouraged to contact ThinkMarkets (see our Customer Support section) to get further information.

Joint Account

ThinkMarkets also gives traders the ability to open a Join Account. As the name suggests, this account will be shared with two or more investors. Like the Islamic Account above, this type of account can be accessed upon request. You will also need to contact ThinkMarkets for further information regarding the minimum deposit required and trading conditions available for this account type.

Trading Software & Assets

As we already mentioned, Trade Interceptor is own solution by ThinkMarkets that enables customers to trade CFDs through the mobile or desktop app across various devices and operating systems. While theres a lot to like about the platform – scalability, ease of use and its well designed while still looking professional – we did found some quibbles when we tried to customize it a bit to our liking.

At one point we could not find our closed trade even though the message on the side shown that it was closed indeed. However, this does not have to mean the platform is bad, its just the case with new workflows that it might take a while to get used to it. New interfaces can create a cognitive load that just needs to be overcome in order to get used to it.

Pros of the Trade Interceptor are charting tools, various views, one click execution, easy to use order dialogue and the fact that it is really fluent and does not freeze in its web-trader edition. We also tried it as an app on a Mac and it worked great.

Trade Interceptor Autochartist

Autochartist is a “market opportunity scanner” that sees a broader set of markets than one trader alone can and finds the best trading opportunities and presents them to trader. Imagine how many markets there are, it is impossible to keep track of just a few, let alone all of them. With Autochartist will identify key levels in the markets that present a good time to get into the market or sell the market, it will notify about price movements of tracked underlying assets and even calculate probabilities of certain events from patterns in the chart.

MetaTrader 4 (MT4)

One of the pros of using MetaTrader is the versatility and upgradability of the platform. With MT4, ThinkMarkets gets a plethora of additional MT4 apps to traders. Some of these apps, like Connect add a customisable news feed and calendar, while others like Sentiment Trader show the market sentiment on the selected underlying asset making it easier to decide if the investment is worth it. In total we counted 12 MT4 Apps to improve your CFDs trading experience.

ThinkMarkets Scam

Good thing about ThinkMarkets customer support is that they are available 24/6, which is more than the standard 24/5 in the industry. So even if its weekend, at least you don’t have to wait for 2 days to reach the broker in case of difficulty. We did not receive any complaints about ThinkMarkets scam.

All the standard options are available – from the live chat that usually responds quickly, to several phone numbers and the emails. In case you are in London or Melbourne, you could probably also drop by their offices there.

The ThinkMarkets website is translated into several languages:

  • English,
  • Arabic,
  • German,
  • Vietnamese,
  • Spanish,
  • Malay,
  • Italian,
  • Indonesian,
  • Greek,
  • Chinese.

ThinkMarkets Minimum Deposit

ThinkMarket has licence in 3 countries – UK, Australia and South Africa. TF Global Markets(UK) Ltd is the company holding the FCA licence, under the number 629628. The ASIC licence, number AFSL424700 is held by TF Global Markets (Aust) Ltd.

The minimum withdrawal is $30 with bank withdrawal, and requests filed before 3 pm GMT will be processed the same day, while most of other requests will be processed within 24 hours.
